When I got back from Verona, I asked the taxi driver who picked me up at the airport to suggest me a place where to spend a relaxing family day off, a not too touristy place, nice and possibly surrounded by natural landscapes. He mentioned les étangs de Hollande, which is a really wonderful place: a series of ponds suddounded by woods, only about 50 km away from Paris.
So we went there with Tiago and spent a lovely day on bikes, a kayak, running and swimming. All this running and cycling and swimming got us pretty hungry, so the girl we borrowed the kayak from told us about a restaurant not far from there: L’Huitre sur le Zinc (17 rue Chasles, 78120 Rambouillet, France). Lovely, LOVELY food in a quiet place. We had delicious fish for dinner and yummy dessert, too.
The shop next door to the restaurant has an incredible selection of teas of all sorts. We also had a walk around chateau de Rambouillet and its wonderful park.
An absolutely blissful day. :-)
